He received his pianistic education in Aarhus, Denmark with Aino Gliemann, where he completed his studies with a soloist diploma. Many scholarships and prizes made further studies in Vienna with Prof. Alexander Jenner possible.
Master classes with renowned pianists such as Tatjana Nicolajewa, Conrad Hansen, John Lill, Leonid Brumberg and Peter Feuchtwanger were important for his artistic formation.
Sven Birch is a Univ. Professor at the Bruckner University Linz where he has been teaching piano since 1992. He is also Head of the Department of Keyboard Instruments.
He has taught 1990-92 at the Royal Academy of Music Copenhagen and from 1999 to 2004 at the Mozarteum Salzburg.
Birch is a sought-after musician with concert performances throughout Europe, with a wide repertoire ranging from Bach to contemporary music. He has worked as a soloist, chamber musician, accompanist and conductor.
